CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
GET READY FOR RALLY DAY on SEPTEMBER 11th.
Rally Day, the first day of Sunday School, is scheduled for September 11th. Come join the fun at 9:30am in Old Scots Hall. Ages Pre-K to Senior High are welcome to attend. Our theme this year is from Matthew 16:18: "On this rock I will build my church." We have a new curriculum and lots of fun activities planned.
We also need adult volunteers to teach our 5th/6th grade class, substitute and lead our monthly group worship services. Additionally, if you have a special talent that you would like to share with our Sunday School (singing, storytelling, crafts), please let us know.
If you would like to volunteer or have any questions about Sunday School registration, please contact Renee.
We can't wait to see you on September 11th!

Computer Aids for the teachers are now being used effectively in the Sunday School program. During this past year we created an information database in the PC, listing all the books, videos, and CDs (and tagged the books and tapes with ID numbers so they can easily be located on the shelf). Now a teacher or student can quickly search our library database for information by subject, author, title, age group, and a few other classifications of information that are also available. With this database a teacher can specify a subject for the lesson, such a Noah or Easter, and get a list of all the books, videos, and CDs in the library that covers the topic-organized by age group. We are hoping that this will lead too much greater use of these resources and to larger classes in the Sunday School program.

We are encoura ging our students to borrow books and videos from the Sunday School Library located in the Media Center. Just ask the Media Center teacher to check the book or video "date out" and "date return" in the Librarybinder.

For the 1999-2000 year, the CE Committee has developed an exciting program using PC-based interactive CDs to enhance the Sunday School program. These interactive Bible-based CDs demand the active participation of the individual student and are effective for teaching new material. The PC 'multimedia is not a replacement for traditional instruction, but it offers a great new opportunity to get the students actively involved. With the support of many Church members and the Old Tennent Trustees we have expanded the Media Center, that now includes four computers, a color printer and a scanner. This technology has opened the door to many new possibilities.
